GOSAR’S CENSURE AND THE HYPOCRISY OF CONTRARIANS WASTING OUR TIME

(It’s National Baklava, Day… Opa!)

We may find it hypocritical that Rep. Paul Gosar (Rep.–AZ) is facing a censure vote from the House today pertaining to the anime cartoon depicting a flying warrior attacking ‘monsters’ bearing faces of AOC and Biden.

These censure votes are in fact silly and so very hypocritical, as needs no introduction to any fair-minded and informed man, woman or child. A Leftist politician promises violence against Supreme Court justices and the incident goes unpunished. Madonna expressed her secret wishes that some days she just wants to blow up the White House and her desires are dismissed as a harmless critique of President Trump. The media have made “If the other side did that it would be ignored” a persistent facet of their reporting. We witness so many of these incidents that the one-sided condemnation and subsequent prosecution have become a commonplace of political life, the sin of false witness again ignored.

Actually we may allow that Gosar’s act was as foolish as it was unnecessary and should be censured. It seems that the Solomon does as well:

“Like snow in summer or rain in harvest,

so honor is not fitting for a fool…

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass,

and a rod for the back of fools.”

Proverbs 26:1, 3

But to Gosar’s detractors, the Solomon says:

“4Answer not a fool according to his folly,

lest you be like him yourself.”

(v.4)

So it seems that when the power-drunk employ any means whatsoever to condemn another fool, hypocrisy is a given. Then we are treated to everything from hanging a mannequin dressed to symbolize a Sarah Palin to Rep. Cohen’s “Kentucky Fried Chicken” stunt.

The cure? See my post for April 30 entitled ‘WHY GREAT MEN DO NOT RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICES” for an examination of the symptoms.https://cultureholywar.com/why-great-men-do-not-run-for-the-highest-offices/

We long for the noble and the wise of stature and character not to “run” for office, but to stand for it. The people want to see their leaders as men and women of character and wisdom, and not the useless clownish antics cluttering the people’s agenda. Such elected representatives will tend to the true business of their calling and the Congress will stop wasting our time and money with these pointless investigations and trivial censures.

Pray the God that ‘the cream might rise to the top’, and take up the obligation to serve well,

Father David+
